Christmas Geek Out YYC

Hey geeks!

How about Star Wars! If you haven’t seen it yet, get out there. And then go again!

I did take the chance on the weekend to attend the ZooLights. My kids had a great time. But, I wanted to mention for all the book-nerds in Calgary, the theme is Wonderland! There is a fun display going on in the butterfly gardens including a tea party. The highlight for me was the large cut-outs of the original Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland images. Totally worth checking out.

Just wanted to send a quick message. As the holidays approach, next Monday being Christmas and all, there will be no Geek Out next week and there is not enough events going on this week for a full post. We will pick back up in the new year. Which is good. This last few weeks have been a good trial run for how this will go, and 2018 things on goYYC can truly get moving. So, I will send my well wishes now.

Merry Christmas YYC geeks! See you in 2018!

Geek Out YYC (Dec. 11 to 17, ‘017)

Hello Calgary geeks,

I hope you had a great week.  Before we get ripping into our next list of events, I wanted to touch on something important.

With all the business of Christmas, parties, events, and shopping, it is a great time to think of those less fortunate.  No child should need to go without toys these holidays.  As the geeks and nerds of our city, it can be extra critical of us to share the joys of what makes us happy.  Please, make a donation to a toy drive this year.  It doesn’t take much, and I know many of you already have some unopen toys that could make a kid happy this year.

These programs are dear to my own heart.  There was a year not too long ago, that my son and I went through a lot of bad luck.  If it was not for toy drives, and food donation programs, our Christmas would have been much less merry.

Please check out this list from Avenue Calgary, and find somewhere to help out this season.

But, that does not mean we need to stop having some nerdy fun this week.  And, Friday marks the most important date on every geek’s calendar this year. So, let’s get into it.

Geek Out YYC (Dec. 4 to Dec. 10, ‘017)

Happy Geek Out Monday, Calgary.

Lots of Holiday events going on, again I recommend checking them out.  I tried to secure some tickets for the Charlie Brown Christmas show. Unfortunately, it is so close to being sold out I could not find a show to fit my family of four.  Which is a good time to remind everyone to secure their Star Wars tickets for the Last Jedi release.

I will be trying to fill out the calendar with regularly scheduled, and weekly events in the next coming weeks.  Be patient as I gather that info together.  But, as always, if there is something you would like to see on here, shoot me a message on the Contact Page.  Come January; I will be writing more posts on more of these events, and great geek venues throughout Calgary.

For now, let’s focus on the great events happening this week:

Wordfest presents Tom Wilson
